Arsenic (As)
accumulation in rice is hazardous to both plant and human because of
its toxicity and carcinogenic properties. North-East (NE) rice
genotypes (76) were screened at germination stage under As treatments
(0, 50 and 100 µM) in order to discover As tolerant and sensitive NE
rice genotypes. Results showed a differential response to As with
different degree of impact that can be categorized as tolerant,
moderately tolerant and sensitive rice genotypes. This study reveals a
significant background for the selection of the highest tolerant and
sensitive rice genotypes.
